The SGB Team
SeniorGovBenefits.com is written and maintained by a small independent team, the SGB Team. We are not a government agency, an insurance company, or a law firm.
We built this site so people can check the numbers themselves before they apply for a program, call an agency, or talk to anyone selling a plan. Every calculator runs on figures published by the agency that runs the program, and every page links to its sources.
Why This Site Exists
Government benefit programs like Medicare, Social Security, SNAP, and Veterans Benefits are run by different agencies, each with its own rules, thresholds, and yearly updates. Finding out what you qualify for, or what something will cost you, often means reading dense agency fact sheets, PDFs, and legal notices that were not written for a general audience.
SeniorGovBenefits.com exists to close that gap. We take the same official figures published by SSA, CMS, the IRS, USDA, and the VA, and turn them into straightforward calculators anyone can use in a few minutes, without needing to understand government formatting or legal language first.
What We Do
- Build calculators covering Medicare, Social Security (SSDI and SSI), SNAP, and Veterans Benefits
- Source every figure directly from the responsible federal agency
- Review and update each calculator when agencies release new figures, typically once a year
- Write plain-language articles explaining how these programs actually work, without the jargon

How We Keep This Site Accurate
Every calculator and article on this site is built using the same process: we identify the official source for a program, pull the current figures directly from that source, build the calculation logic to match the agency's own rules, and test it against known examples before publishing. Who This Site Is For
This site is for people working through Medicare, Social Security, SNAP, or Veterans Benefits on their own. That may be someone approaching 65 who wants to know what Medicare will cost, an adult child helping a parent with SSDI eligibility, or a veteran estimating disability compensation before filing a claim.
You don't need any background in government programs to use these tools. You just need your own numbers.
